Features Should be Considered for Choosing Fishing Line
In American bass fishing tournaments, most of anglers use nylon fishing line. In recent years, multistrand nylon line, braided line are in vogue gradually and welcomed by anglers. No mater which kinds of fishing line, high quality fishing lines are recommended. High quality fishing lines have stable performance, more durable. The following factor should be considered when choosing fishing line.
Tensile strength: in the U.S., pound (LBS) marks as the strength of fishing lines. Pound means that needed power used to snap fishing line. The strength of most of fishing lines are much higher then marked tension on label. While for fishing lines having world record, tested tension just locates at the marked strength range, or a little lower than the value.
Abrasive resistance: when fishing in obstacle ares, such as rock or branch, fishing lines having excellent abrasive resistance cannot be broken easily.
Line diameter: line diameter has direct relationship with casting distance. For the lure reached depth, extensibility and visibility, fishing lines having small line diameter cannot only keep invisible to fish, but also make crankbait or grub more life-like in the water. Fishing lines with large line diameter have good abrasive resistance.
Extensibility: under some conditions, fishing lines with high extensibility also have good performance. Especially for dawdling fish, the line cannot be broken easily. Fishing lines with low extensibility have high success rate when judging bite or hook-up.
Softness: the property also has a lot to do with extensibility of lines. Hard lines are not easily cast like soft lines. However, hard lines are more wear-resistant, and more sensitive to feeling. Lines having higher extensibility are softer.
Visibility (color): in clear water area, lines having low visibility and good stealth, reducing the possibility that be seen by fish.
Attentions
1.The line should be stored in shadow under room temperature.
2.The line should be protected from chemical substances such as gasoline, in case of polymer molecules being resolved.
3.A little line can be pulled out before using, to test tensile strength and extensibility of line locating at the available range or not.
4.When fishing in obstacle area, abrasion on leader should be focused frequently. Several inches of worn line are recommended to cut off, then, connected with lure.
5.If the line is knotted during using, the knotted line must be cut off.
6.When the line on reel are ageing, it should be replaced immediately.
